Bandung has a long history. This capital of West Java Province is surrounded by mountains and that�s why  in 18th century, Dutch colonials built first tea plantation here. Geographically, Bandung was an ancient prehistoric lake. So, the facts bring interesting stuffs to do in Bandung like... of course now;

1. History Commemorating

Interesting museums you can visit in Bandung are Asia Africa Museum �as the first Asia Africa Conference was held in Bandung- , Geology Museum and Postal Museum. The last two museums are located in the down town of Bandung, near provincial office building.

Asia Africa Museum : Jl. Asia Africa No. 65, Braga. It opens every  Monday-Friday 08. 00-15. 00.  You can find a post cards with old Bandung pictures in Djawa Book Store (Toko Buku Djawa) in Jl. Braga No. 79.

Geology Museum : Jl. Diponegoro No. 57, Bandung. It opens every Monday-Thursday 09. 00-16. 00. Saturday-Sunday 08. 00-14. 00.

Postal Museum : Jl. Cilaki No. 73. It opens every Monday-Saturday 09. 00-16. 00

3. Bosscha Observatory
It was established by a dutch space scientist. This became Bandung Institute of Technology laboratory for astronomy development. For public visit, it opens very Saturday 09. 00-13. 00. If you come to this place, you will get explanations and informations all things about astronomy development. But, unfortunately its explained in Bahasa Indonesia. Anyway, try to come at 09. 00, 11. 00 or 13. 00 sharp, otherwise you will lose explanation moment in multimedia room.




4. Cultural Heritage and Performances
Sundanese is  majority tribe living in Bandung. Therefore, there are some sundanese cultural performance in Bandung you can see, even you can join those performances in interactive way.
Saung Angklung Mang Udjo


This place was established by Udjo Ngalagena in 1966, he was a Sundanese artist who concerned about Sundanese cultural heritage especially angklung, Sundanese traditional music instrument made from bamboo. You can watch angklung show and another Sundanese perfromance everday in this place at 15. 00 sharp and better you reach this place an hour before the show is started. The ticket price is Rp. 60. 000, 00 or about 5 USD.




You can also learn how to play angklung on your own or orchestra and  find many many Sundanese souvenirs here including puppets, necklace, t shirts, refrigerator magnets, post cards, angklung of course and etc.

5. Shopping

Bandung is known as Paris Van Java. There are many factory outlets in Jl. Riau and Jl. Dago.


Public Transports

- Try Bandung Tour on The Bus (Bandros) its a double decker bus in Bandung that you can ride for sightseeing. It's like hop on hop off bus in mostly cities in Europe. You can ride it from Taman Pustaka Bunga in Jl. Cilaki. It takes Rp. 10. 000, 00 for each trip.




- Angkot; A very popular  and cheap public transport in Bandung used by mostly Bandung citizens. Angkot is like cars that set to be public transport. The money you got to pay for single trip depended on how far you go, but the highest rate is Rp. 5000, 00 or less than a US dollar :p. It may not as comfort as MRT in Singapore or mostly tram in Europe, far far away from that comfortable, but you can stop everywhere you want and just ask the driver �Kiri, kiri!� if you want to stop in a place in the rute. - Train
Its a very good choice if you want to see intercity landscapes. Trains are available to some destinations like Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Solo, Semarang, Tasikmalaya, etc. You can book online train ticket in www.tiket.com or Indomart and alfamart minimarkets in Indonesia. After you book and get the online reservation you need to exchange the reservation bill in train station maximum an hour before the time of your ittinerary.
