I left Yogyakarta 3 years ago and yesterday we went there for family vacation then I realized there are many things I miss from this city. Yeah, even though almost 5 years I lived in Yogyakarta, some places I havent visited yet.

Where we spent the nights?

This guest house is quite new. Located arround Jalan Parangtritis, Bantul, Yogyakarta, Rumah Paris is inspired from common western house. There are 3 rooms concepts worlds traveler, shabbylicious, and beach cottages. With only IDR 490 each night, you can get breakfast, acd jr suite room with very huge bathroom (in worlds traveler), very nice place, and free swimming pool. The swimming pool is located in Rumah Budaya Tembi just in front of the guest house. There are cultural activities packages offered by Rumah Budaya Tembi such as learning how to make Batik hand craft, traditional farming and learning traditional music. Vintage layouts are what i love most from this place.

This place was very great and the staff, especially Mas Gusman, was very nice. He is typical Javanese man who is very helpful and smooth spoken. You can find them on their instagram; @rumahparis.

Where we visited?

We watched Ramayana ballet that performs everynight near Prambanan Temple. VIP ticket cost 25USD for each. I reccommend everybody who goes to Yogyakarta to visit watch this performance. It was beautiful performance with well prepared properties. This show is greater than what you see in Ramayana Kecak, in Uluwatu, Bali.

The day after that, we visited Parangtritis beach, to see sunset, yeah, sunset here is very beautiful. But, if you come here on week end, it would be very crowded. It is forbidden to swim and surf here because the wave was sooo high and there are many trench of sea even they are located very near from the beach.

In the tomorrow morning we walked arround Malioboro street to go for shopping, Mirota Batik is the most visited shopping center here especially for souvenir and traditional textile, Batik, but if you want cheaper stuffs, you could go to traditional market in front of that, Pasar Beringharjo, but you have to bargain for price. Most of them can speak english. This place is very close to Yogyakarta Palace/ Kraton Yogyakarta and Masjid Agung Yogyakarta.

Actually I got disapointed when I visited Malioboro, it was soooo crowded, sooo many people there, sooo many unmanaged street vendors and garbages are everywhere. This city needs better waste management.

So, that was my short holiday in Yogyakarta. Hope this experience can give you another insights. Happy traveling and stay colorful!
